Before the Bank enters into a relationship with a client, it performs a number of due diligence activities to fully understand who they are and to clarify if they are the type of counterparty it wants to do business with. This activity is described as Know Your Client or “KYC” and is the primary focus of Client Lifecycle Management (CLM).

The KYC activities support a number of regulatory compliance requirements specified by our global regulators and provide a rigorous and robust process of investigation that seeks, with reasonable assurance, to verify and validate the customer’s identity and understand and test the customer’s profile, business and account activity. They also help to mitigate the bank’s reputational risk by verifying a client’s correctness and integrity, helping to prevent it from being used intentionally or unintentionally by criminal elements to support terrorist, money laundering or any other criminal activities.

The Client Lifecycle Management Embedded Risk Team (ERT) is responsible for ensuring that an effective framework is in place to manage, monitor and reduce risk, to challenge the decisions being taken in the assessment and remediation of risk and ensure that we are aligned to the firms’ policy and guidelines in regard to all aspects of the risk framework. Separately, the Regulatory Response Team (RR) is responsible for managing our Regulatory engagement with respect to CLM topics.

The role will work closely with both of these global teams and a number of global peers and senior stakeholders to help provide a complete picture of the risk profile of CLM, ensuring that handoffs and dependencies across functions/regions are transparent and understood. This highly collaborative role will also require regular interactions with Regulatory Management Group, AFC, DCRO, the Business & Other 2nd line functions to understand the regulatory engagement landscape, touch points, change horizon and inventory of commitments.

Role Specifics:

The position reports to the Client Lifecycle Management Americas Head of ERT and RR. The role requires effective participation in managing of a complex catalogue of deliverables, to multiple stakeholders.

Risk & Control Deliverables:

  • Governance – Assist with an effective, embedded and consistently applied governance meeting structure.

  • Key Risk Indicators – Assist with maintaining a complete set of Key Risk Indicators.

  • Audit SII & Incident processes - Ensure US CLM compliance to the firm audit policy, firm Self-Identified Issue Guidance and incident escalation process.

  • Conduct finding closure validation procedures.

  • Risk Culture – Assist with CLM’s risk culture improvement programme to promote transparency, awareness, engagement with the risk agenda.

  • Risk & Control Assessments - Review the design adequacy and performance effectiveness of controls and their corresponding documentation (Desk Top Procedures).

Regulatory Response Deliverables:

  • Coordinate and administer timely responses to regulatory requests including maintaining a central request log, responses, sign offs and regulatory meetings to ensure SLA’s are in place and can be measured.

  • Preparation of regulatory responses / presentations and internal senior management reporting.

  • Regulatory Compliance Transparency – Assist with establishing mechanisms to monitor regulatory compliance and that the mechanism is performing effectively.


REQUIREMENTS

Candidate Specifications:

The successful individual will have experience of the financial sector in any of the following areas; Operations, risk/controls, quality assurance, compliance or audit and have experience managing deliverables & maintaining effective relationships across DB’s various functions.

  • Relevant project management experience in a global banking environment.

  • Experience maintaining project milestones and tracking via spreadsheets, sharepoint sites, or other tools.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills including presentation prep.

  • Client focused approach and ability to react quickly to changing demands.

  • Proactive mind-set and the tenacity to consistently engage stakeholders for key deliverables.


PREFERRED QUALITIES

Desired Skills:

  • Exposure to Client Onboarding, KYC or similar regulatory projects is preferred.

  • Exposure to Regulatory reviews and Audits is preferred.
